About us

Touch of Joy Initiative (TOJ) is the social care arm of the Joshua Leadership Project. TOJ provides free medical care to indigent people in city slums and remote villages in Nigeria and Africa. It targets those who either cannot access or afford health care. Since 2014, we have provided free medical care, including surgeries, to over 10,000 people across Kebbi, Niger, Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Lagos states and the Federal Capital Territory in Nigeria.

Our goals

(2021-2026)

Reach 30 communities each year

Provide free medicare to 10,000 persons annually

Empower 6,000 women and youths annually

Open 10 rural schools annually

Medicare

Medicare

The free medical care begins with a Health Talk centered around Healthy Living. This has always proven quite useful and effective as our experience shows that 70% of the ailments suffered by the poor in rural communities and city slums stem from ignorance of health habits.

Empowerment Programmes

Empowerment Programmes

We run 3 empowerment sessions during the outreaches depending on the needs of the community and the feasibility. Namely; Women Empowerment, Calling the Champions (Youth Empowerment), and Leadership Development Programme.

Our Key Projects

Touch of Joy Hospitals

Recently, we acquired a piece of land in Gbelekpan in Bosso Local Government of Niger State to build one of several planned rural hospitals.

Touch of Joy Education Programme

With the low level of education, especially in Northern Nigeria, TOJ has recently rolled out two education intervention programs in Northern Nigeria.
Rural Schools: Plans have been concluded for the taking of rural schools in 4 communities in Kebbi and Niger States – Gbelekpan, Nasarrawa, and New Busau in Niger State and Angwa Auta in Kebbi State.

  1. Rural Schools Programme: We are setting up schools in rural communities with no school presence. Pilot school is now opened at Belekpan, a Gwari village, in Bosso LGA, of Niger State, Nigeria. Coming up: TOJ Schools in Angwa Auta in Kebbi State and Bakatara, in Niger state.
  2. Undergraduate Funding Programme: The TOJ undergraduate funding program is targeted at indigent undergraduate students from rural communities who cannot afford their tuition fees. This initiative took off in August 2021 with the first batch of 3 beneficiaries from Niger State.
